ICCA Forum was done under the WTMLA (San Pablo Brail)- integrated by the President, CEO, Director of ICCA´s Brazilian Chapter (International Congress and Convention Association). The main topic was “El crecimiento del Sector Latinoamericano de Congresos en el scenario mundial” (“The growth of the Latin-American Sector of Congresses in the world”.
Statistics of the growth of Latin- America in the business tourism sector are strong: with a growth of 138% in the last 10 years and 1056 registered international events in 2012 (in 2002 the region had 443 international events). While North- America- included Canada, Mexico and U.S.- had 1195registered international events in 2012.
Latin-American ranking of countries in which international events are done: 1) Brazil (distinguished by its accessibility, 20 international airports and around 35 conventions centers located in its 45 provinces); 2) Argentina; 3) Colombia; 4) Chile; 5) Peru.
The event highlighted the multiple destinations opportunities in Latinamerica. This means the huge opportunity for different regions of Latinamerica to make alliances and become a stronger region -alliances between Latinamerican Bureaux- which will help to increment the inter-regional flow of events.
