Nowadays, Sustainable Tourism is of main importance in the international agenda. But what does it mean? It means that the touristic development must grow along with sustainability criteria: make a profitable, respectful and efficient use of natural resources.
How eco-friendly is the congress we organize?
– When we get involved in an event, whether we participate as PCOs, hotel service providers, means of transport providers, credential’s area providers, event room providers or providing any kind of service involved in the service chain: do we commit ourselves to green practice initiation?
Some ideas:
– Identify and reduce waste for its recycling; event rooms should be provided with labeled garbage cans for different kinds of waste.
– Ask the speakers to reduce their use of paper.
– Ask the sponsors to use digital marketing or to reduce their use of paper to a minimum.
– Reduce the use of energy at the event.
– Credential’s area: promote the minimum use of paper and energy.
– If possible bags and briefcases made for the event should be of eco-friendly materials. Also, the people taking part on the event could be asked to return the bags or briefcases to be used in the next event.
– Signaling should be digital or its printing should be reduced.
– Eco-friendly toilettes: if possible water control systems should be used.
– Final Academic or Institutional reports on the event should be digital and a web link should be provided.
– Gather all the extra paper of the event and give it to recycling organizations.
If some of the ideas mentioned above are regularly practiced by a business meeting destination not only the community will be benefited but we will also be cooperating to environment preservation for future generations!!!
