For our monthly members of the SC & VB meeting of camaraderie we invited two leaders of Meetings Tourism;
1) Ms. Alisson Batres(Director and Creator of the International and National Events Project, President of OCCAF, President of COCAL Federation of Conferences and Related Events Organizers of Latin America).
2) Mr. Pablo Singerman (Director of Economic Studies of Tourism (PEIET), Deputy Director of Master in Economics and Tourism Management (FCE-UBA), Professor of Economics (CBC-UBA), Professor of Macroeconomics and Economic Policy (FCE-UBA), Academic Director of the Mirador de Deporte y Economía (UB), Director of the School of Tourism (UNER), Director of the Economic Observatory of Meeting Tourism of Argentina and the Economic Observatory of Tourism Agencies in Argentina.
Alisson (via videoconference) analyzed the outcome of the international ICCA statistics: where the sustained growth of meetings held in Latin America, with 33% of the number of events is reflected. She also congratulated Argentina: its National Authorities of the Public Sector and their Private Sector leaders on the positioning of our country in the international ranking: taking the 2nd place in Latin America as a destination of events.
She also quoted the World Tourism Organization when it refers (in Book VII of the Collection WTO) to meetings as the most dynamic in the tourism industry.
Therefore she stressed the responsibility -which concerns us entrepreneurs of the sector- to continue adding professionalism to the chain of services we provide in our events.
Finally, as a result of the COCAL investigations, Alisson shared with us the trends and developments that are already successfully being applied in our sector.
Thank you very much Alisson!!!
Pablo participated with a presentation of the Annual Statistics, which are made by: the Argentine Meetings Tourism Observatory, the Faculty of Economics, UBA and AOCA, whose official launch is annually held the first half of June.
Nevertheless and trying not to not to get ahead in the dissemination of the results of the Statistical Yearbook of Events 2014,heshared with us the bases and processes in which each province of Argentina is working.
He explained in detail the variables on which measurements are made, the composition of each of them and through statistical tables he showed us the performance of the Meeting Tourism sector in our country.
As for our province of Salta he stressed that it was the first Argentine Destination to join the professionalization in events, actively participating in the Training Workshops given by the Argentine Observatory of Meetings Tourism.
Thank you very much Pablo!!!
