In the ICCA world ranking of “Destinations Venues of Events ” (International Congress & Convention Association) our country occupies the 18th position and is still the 2nd destination in Latin America that hosts most of the international events (after Brazil). Prestigious statistics on the number of international congresses in around 3150 Cities that are Destinations of Event support this, according to world standards.
In the last six years Buenos Aires has kept its position as the best city in the country and in America, occupying the 21st position in the world ranking.
It is worth mentioning that Salta is one of the Top 10 Destinations Venues of International Events (ICCA ranking) as consequence of the Salta CVB strategic work based on a dynamic master plan that is updated in a professional way with a coordinated work between Salta Convention & Visitors Bureau, the Government of the Province of Salta and the INPROTUR (National Institute of Tourism Pomotion), which promotes Salta as Destination Venue of Events for the organization of conferences, conventions, incentive trips, trade fairs and exhibitions.
In recent years other cities of Argentina have been hosts of International Events: Mendoza, Cordoba, Rosario, La Plata, Mar del Plata, Bariloche, Pilar, Puerto Iguazu, Salta, Tucuman and Santa Fe.
The last two that appeared for the first time, to the ICCA 2014 global ranking are the cities of San Miguel de Tucuman and Santa Fe.
The Meetings Tourism sector has been growing since 2008, which together with the emerging systematic actions of the INPROTUR´s Strategic Plan motivated the development of the sector in the whole country; as a result of the work of a large team: LARGE because we all participate!! Great because every action of that Plan was thought and done to include every destination venue of events (over 44 destinations), a country team that developed a truly federal program!!!
We can see that the segment will keep growing in the upcoming years … we have learned that in business tourism achievements were strengthen by the joint work of the INPROTUR, AOCA, Argentine Bureaus, Ministries of Tourism, Meetings Tourism Observatories and the entire tourism sector, and yes! We will keep doing it this way: TOGETHER!!!!
